- Do some research online or talk to your local agricultural extension office or garden center and find out what garden vegetables do well in your climate and region.
- Out of this long list, identify a shorter list of vegetables that are easy to grow.
- Cherry-pick (pun intended) six vegetables that you would like to grow from the last list and make a garden plan. After tomorrow’s lesson, plant it.
- Keep notes on what vegetables grow best for you, and save the seeds of plants that do very well for planting next year.
- As your experience grows, try more exotic plants and edible flowers.
- If you want to get into commercial growing, read an intensive organic vegetable growing manual for other methods and techniques. Some of the other most popular methods are the Holmgren, Coleman, and Fortier, but there are many others.
