- Speak with local shops, markets, and/or neighbors about their needs and what might sell easily in your immediate market.
- Pick a few ideas from the above that you already have experience in or the ability to pursue (if you already have poultry, for example, try a couple of fowl-related endeavors) and create a production and sales plan.
- Pick a few ideas that interest you but that you have no experience in and give them a try on a small scale. Make a basket for yourself or as a gift to see if basket weaving might be your favorite new hobby.
- If you’re more inclined to provide services than sell goods, pinpoint some areas of interest and make inquiries to see where and to whom you could offer these regularly.
