Permanent residency (EC Long-Term Residence Permit; Permesso di Soggiorno per Soggiornanti di Lungo Periodo – S.L.P) can be requested after living in Italy for five years on permesso de soggiorno and is then valid for an indefinite period of time. The cost is 30 euros.
You must go to the local town hall and submit your stay permit, original birth certificate (must first be translated and authenticated in your home country), a copy of your passport, and a copy of a deed showing adequate housing in Italy.
All documents must be translated by a certified translator.
