Pest-Control Insects

One of the main issues with using chemical pesticides in your garden (other than the fact that you will end up consuming the chemicals yourself) is that they kill both the pests that are eating your garden and the insects that predate on the pests.

Spiders, ladybugs, and hundreds of other beneficial insects spend all day every day happily eating all the critters that would be eating your harvest. Encouraging these insects by providing plants that they like and niches for them to live in can greatly reduce pests that might afflict your garden.

Both pests and predator insects vary by region, so check out your local agricultural extension office or go online and Google which beneficial insects are prevalent in your area.

Small rockeries for habitat, flowers that attract specific pest predators, and a chemical-free environment all encourage these garden friends to come and help you out in your garden.
