Assurance de prêt Mortgage insurance
Bail Lease
Box / boîte An enclosed parking space, often with pull down garage-style door
Caution / dépot de garantie Security deposit for rental
Cave Cellar, technically for wine storage
Compromis de vente A pre-agreement to buy a house
Charges comprises (cc) Shared building expenses included in the price (+ charges indicates these fees are not included in your rent)
Charges locative Service/maintenance fees for collective amenities
Courtier Broker
Cuisine équipée / aménagée A cuisine équipée has appliances; a cuisine aménagée has counters and cabinets installed. If a listing does not specify either of these, you should assume it is completely empty
Dossier The folder of documents you’ll need to submit with your rental application
État des lieux Property walkthrough to verify its condition and list any damages (and furniture if renting furnished)
Euribor The basic interest rate on which French mortgages are based
A house (F) and its specified number (e.g. 1, 2, etc.) of rooms excluding kitchen and bathroom(s). An F2 is a one-bedroom house.
F1, F2, F3, F4, etc.
Frais d’études or frais de dossier Fees to put together a dossier
Gardien(ne) A building’s caretaker; sometimes called a concierge

Rez de chausée (rdc) Ground floor
T1, T2, T3, T4, etc. An apartment (T) and its specified number (e.g. 1, 2, etc.) of rooms excluding kitchen and bathroom(s). A T1 is a studio apartment, a T2 is a one-bedroom apartment
Taux fixe, taux variable, taux capé Fixed rate, variable rate, capped rate
