Your assignment today is to go to the Firecalc website and to play with the calculator and other resources provided there.
You know how old you are. You can reasonably project your retirement to continue through age 90 (unless you know something I don’t!). And you have your lump-sum retirement nest egg figure from yesterday’s “Figuring Your Live-Overseas Nest Egg Net-Worth Calculator.”
Start with those numbers.
Firecalc allows you to program in your expected Social Security or pension start date and monthly income amount, as well as planned or expected changes in your situation (an expected windfall of capital from a future sale of real estate, for example).
This is a great tool. Have fun with it.
And determine for yourself what monthly budget amount your assets, liquidated and invested, along with your expected Social Security or other pension income, amounts to.
Armed with that figure, in Step #3, we’ll consider where best you should plan to launch your new life overseas.
Until tomorrow,
