Your homework today depends on your timeline. If you’re intending to make your move overseas within the next year, I recommend that you get in touch now with a tax attorney in your home country experienced with international taxation issues and questions, someone who will be able to represent your home country tax issues and to work with you and the tax advisor you identify in your new country of residence to be sure you don’t pay any more in taxes, overall, all obligations considered, than necessary.
