Day 32 Assignment

  1. Search your home for suitable containers for fermenting; ask friends if they have any to spare.
  2. Start saving suitable glass bottles to store your finished product in.
  3. Go online and price out the cost to get the rest of the equipment and supplies you will need to set up a small home brew operation.
  4. Estimate how much beer is consumed in your household per month, including guests. Multiply this by the cost of a good craft beer and this is the amount you could save per month by brewing your own.
  5. Once you get good at brewing, see if you can trade your craft beers for other goods or services, making an easy “income” stream. (Be careful about selling beer for cash; it’s illegal in most countries without a correct license.)

Further Resources:

  • Give a listen to the audio recording from our most recent Self-Sufficiency Conference in Belize: Brewing And Distilling Beer At Home. (Unfortunately, this class is more fun in person when you get to taste the samples!)
