- Check prices online and consider buying a small home still.
- Consider making your own still… Buy a hydrometer and a condenser (as used in chemistry labs) and assemble your own with materials you have or can buy in the supermarket or chemistry suppliers to make a still of equal quality at a fraction of the cost.
- Try your hand at distilling a small amount of alcohol for your first try. Take some fruit wine (bought or made) or make some corn mash and distill it.
- If it doesn’t go right the first time, keep practicing or get some tips from another local home stiller.
- Consider what fruits you could grow or are cheap at various times of the year to brew your alcohol base.
