- Search online for used or new canning equipment. Note the initial capital outlay you’ll need to put down to get your canning system started.
- Research the canning suitable for the fruits and vegetables that grow well in your area. Consider planting extra of these next year.
- Keep an eye out for vegetables that you don’t grow yourself at the height of their growing season. Prices are often lowest at this time of year, and you can buy in bulk and can them for when you need them.
- Visit garage sales and buy any good-quality glass canning jars you can find.
- Can three kinds of vegetables and one kind of meat to master the skill.
